Architectural Design of a House in Emona Village, Nesebar Municipality

Emona village is located in the northeastern part of Nesebar Municipality, above Cape Emine, the easternmost point of the Balkan Mountains. Cape Emine traditionally marks the boundary between the northern and southern Bulgarian Black Sea coast. The area is known for its unique natural landscape, panoramic sea views, and preserved authentic atmosphere. The residential house project in Emona village was developed by the architectural studio Archline Nikolov Ltd., Burgas, specializing in architectural design of houses, residential buildings, and holiday properties along the Southern Black Sea coast. The house is oriented entirely towards the sea, allowing the architectural concept to fully utilize the natural characteristics of the terrain and the panoramic views of the Black Sea. Architectural Concept The architecture of the building follows a modern minimalist design, creating an interesting contrast with the traditional houses located nearby in Emona village. The project is inspired by the surrounding landscape and the free spirit of the place, aiming to achieve harmony between architecture, nature, and the lifestyle of the residents. The house is developed on a single level with a total area of 230 sq.m, where the spaces are organized to provide maximum comfort and a strong visual connection with the surrounding environment. Thanks to the large glass façades, the interior spaces are filled with natural light throughout the day and offer panoramic sea views. Functional Layout The house is organized on one level and includes: four bedrooms spacious living area living room dining area with kitchen The spaces are arranged to create a sense of openness and a smooth transition between interior and exterior environments. Harmony within the interior is achieved through the use of a single main color expressed in multiple shades, creating a calm and elegant atmosphere. In front of the house there is an outdoor swimming pool, which complements the architectural composition and naturally extends the living space towards the sea panorama. Energy Efficiency and Sustainability The architectural concept follows the principles of sustainable and energy-efficient design. The building is oriented along a west–east axis at an angle that minimizes direct sunlight penetration during the summer months, reducing interior overheating. During winter, when the sun is lower, sunlight penetrates deeper into the interior spaces and naturally contributes to heating the building, reducing the need for additional energy consumption. Architectural Design Archline Nikolov Ltd. is an architectural studio based in Burgas, specializing in the design of houses, residential buildings, holiday complexes, and tourism-related developments along the Bulgarian Black Sea coast. The residential house project in Emona village, Nesebar Municipality represents a contemporary architectural approach where minimalist architecture, connection with the natural landscape, and energy efficiency are combined into a unified architectural concept.
